After you apply, you will be notified of you application's approval or denial. If you are approved you will be sent a Certificate of Eligibility in the mail. This process may take approximately 30 days. If you application is denied, you can have your decision reviewed by going to www.va.gov/decision-reviews/.
Submit you Certificate of Eligibility (COE) to your school's School Certifying Official (SCO)
NOBTS' SCO is located in the Financial Aid Office. You can bring a copy of your COE directly to the Financial Aid Office or email it to financialaid@nobts.edu.
If you email a copy to the Financial Aid Office, please make sure to include your full name, student ID, and phone number in the email. A financial aid representative will contact you to obtain your VA File number.
Register for classes
After being admitted to NOBTS and completing orientation, you will need to register for classes. You can do so by logging into your Self-Serve student portal >> selecting My Academics >> Selecting Registration. If you need assistance registering for classes or would like to set up an appointment with an academic advisor, please contact the Registrar's Office at registrar@nobts.edu or 504-816-8257.
Once you've registered for classes and FINALIZED your class schedule, let your school's SCO know you are ready to have your registration certified.
Notify your SCO of any changes that you make to your registration
All changes made to your registration, such as adding/dropping/withdrawing from classes, can affect your VA education benefits. It is your responsibility to notify your school's SCO in a timely manner of any changes you make in your class schedule in order to avoid overpayments or becoming ineligible to continue receiving benefits.
